Hello guys!
Today I'm reviewing Skin Food's Royal Honey Mask.
This is actually a favorite of mine, so today I'm going to share my thoughts with you :) After trying some samples, I bought mine on ebay for about $11 (including shipping).

First off, I really like the packaging. Skin Food usually puts their face masks in little tubs, but this packaging is a lot more sanitary. It also comes with a convenient pump, and it is also really nice that it comes with a removable clip. This clip is great if you are packing the product and don't want it to leak.
Skin Food Royal Honey Mask
Size: 150ml
An exfoliating mask with royal black honey and royal jelly extracts that sloughs away dead skin cells and transforms rough skin into a nice honey-glazed complexion.
[Directions] 1. Apply a quarter-sized amount evenly to the face and massage gently. 2. Leave on for 10 minutes until the texture turns watery. Massage in gentle circular motions until clumps of cellulose granules and impurities appear. Wipe off and cleanse with a foaming cleanser.
Swatches
As you can see, the product starts out thick (almost like honey) but after massaging it in, it turns watery. It smells strongly of honey, with a slightly perfumed scent. If you are sensitive to smells, I don't suggest you use this mask. It doesn't smell very good haha.
The product also appears yellow in the bottle, but it is actually clear.
How I use this Product
Unlike the instructions, I usually end up dispensing more than the recommended amount. I don't find a quarter size to be enough. I usually do double that amount. I spread it on my face, then massage for a moment or two. I let it sit for ten minutes, but I find that it doesn't usually get quite as watery as I expect it to. For some reason it seems like my face absorbs the mask?
After that I massage my face, until little white particles or "clumps of impurities" or "cellulose granules" form. It seems like the mask is taking off the dead skin! I keep massaging gently until it seems like there isn't any more impurities coming out. Lastly, I will sometimes simply rinse off the mask, or occasionally I'll use a foaming cleanser.
My Thoughts on the Product?
I really love this mask!!!! But it is really tough for me to get past the honey smell-- I don't really like it. The mask also doesn't exactly feel good initially, it just feels really greasy. It also gets all over your hands and makes a greasy mess, and you have to rinse your hands. But, if you get past that minor unpleasantness, it is totally worth the smell and greasiness.
It amazes me how many impurities, or dead skin comes out of my skin. It feels great when I massage my face, and it really cleans out my pores. I love it. Lastly, after I rinse the mask off, my skin feels as supple as a baby's!!! I am not kidding you, my skin looks like it is glowing and feels so smooth and soft.
Who do I Recommend this Product to?
Everyone! This product removes all of those impurities-- from dry skin, to clearing out your pores, to removing "cellulose granuales." It is great! I use it about once a week, and it always does wonders for my skin. It freshens and brightens it up, and I also feel like it tightens my pores. It is still gentle enough for all skin types, as long as you don't rub your face really hard.
The price isn't bad, about $11 online and you can always get some samples online if you aren't sure about buying the full size without trying it first.
Rating: 4.8/5
Pros:
- Removes skin impurities
- Tightens your pores
- Makes your skin look brighter/healthier
- Moisturizing
- Gives you supple and soft skin
- Comes with a pump (sanitary packaging)
Cons:
- The smell is strong (not a fan of the scent)
- It's kind of greasy feeling
I had to deduct .2 away because of the smell and the greasiness of the product-- kind of messy. But the overall benefits outweigh the negatives. Love, love this mask! :) See you next post~~
This sound great, especially that it makes your skin like a baby's. I will have to try it! I like the smell of honey, and the price is good. :
